I truly am a dental phobic person. I do not enjoy the thought of even visiting the office just to take xrays or for an easy cleaning and polishing. If I have to go to the dentist, then it is becauase I had already been thinking about going for over a year. That being said, I now did visit Green Apple Dental and think that dental offices have changed since I last visited them in the past. There still is that awkward feeling of laying back in the chair while the dentist pokes around at your teeth and writes all the concerns down but I did feel that it was not as long and arduous as I had remembered. My visit was mostly a check up and then a cleaning on a seperate day. The hygienist is very good and extremely gentle so that was a positve aspect definately.

I found Green Apple Dental through Citysearch and I have to agree with all the positive reviews I found here. The staff is also friendly and fun to joke with. The office itself is clean, nice and feels more like going to a house than a dentist's office. Dr. Bird is very friendly, really listens to all your concerns, and takes the time to explain everything to you. The prices were very inexpensive as well - which was a big concern for someone like me who does not have dental insurance. I'm so happy to have found a great new dentist!

Amazing place!! After going to a number of crack pot dentists when I first moved to Portland, Green Apple Dental was a fresh change. I would recommend this office to anyone in a heartbeat for general dentistry. Thumbs up goes to how quickly I was able to get an appointment! I got an appointment a few days after I called! That's unheard of, most times it takes 2wks-a month after you call, so I was excited and impressed about that;)! They are extremely professional, good with reminders, and all around helpful in explaining insurance, billing, etc. Their office is clean and nice. Also, they have weekend appointments!! Otherwise, the cleanings are nicely done. They do not try to sell you on procedures you do not need. I've had multiple Dr.s over the year and have seen no difference in quality between them. I think Dr. Kang is extremely sensitive to making sure to select good people to staff his office. If this is in your hood or you just plane hated your prior Dr. as I did, go here for a more positive experience.

Exceptionally great staff, they were able to see me quickly and take care of my issue. My crown had broken off and needed to see a dentist before I took a big trip out of the country. After reading some reviews about Green Apple Dental I decided to go ahead and make an appointment. When I walked in the office was quite relaxing and extra touches were great. My friends are all envious...I'm trying to send them your way.

When I first came here in 2006, Dr. Kang welcomed me into his office to introduce himself and chat a bit. The staff were friendly, and I had a great experience. The techs are wonderful as are the front desk staff. Once the place got larger and they opened a second location on 82nd St., the vibe changed. Dental techs seemed overwhelmed with work, and almost hesitated in asking me if I wanted a paraffin dip in order to save time. It was obvious that it just added more stress to their day! On my last visit when the tech was done with the cleaning, she said, "Oh, Dr. Kang isn't here (whom I had an appt. with), he is in the new office now. Is it ok if you see a different doctor?" Well, no, I told her, it isn't but what choice to I really have now that I am sitting in the chair? I felt this was really unprofessional. Would it have been so difficult to call and let me know ahead of time I would be seeing someone new? The new dentist was cold as ice and barely glanced at me or said much of anything. I haven't returned since.

i went in after reading many positive reviews... the girls at the desk seemed nice, and the dental assistant was nice too, although i was a little scared of the xray machine.. i just don't like being exposed to them.. but i think they accept xrays from your previous dentists, so that's nice.. the hand spa thing was just a little weird, but i understand what they were trying to do.. cause i was nervous, and it did its job of calming me down.. i didn't take the ipod while waiting for dr. bird(?) because i didn't think it would take that long.. but that was a mistake, i ended up sitting on the chair, looking at the clock next to me for 40 minutes.. just waiting.... while scheduling the appointment the week earlier, i told the girl at the desk that i was in severe pain and that that's the reason why i called in the first place... i wish she would've told me that during this appointment that we wouldn't get anything done.. just the x-rays and confirming that i have cavities... or i wouldn't have been so excited to finally eat something solid. anyway, the dr. showed up, and looked at my teeth, told me i had a grinding problem, had a few cavities.. and my wisdom teeth were growing... i told him i was in pain... and then the nice dental assistant told me the girl at the desk will schedule the next appointment/ figure out the treatment plans... so i went, and she just told me how much i owed for the appointment and xray supplies with insurance, and that the dr. would call me to figure out the next step. it came out to be over a hundred dollars, which seemed funny because when i was walking out, the advertisement next to the door said $19 for new customers x ray and appointment... i just don't know why she didn't take the step to tell me about the special.. i wouldn't have even known about it if i didn't see the sign. i waited the whole day, and no call. my teeth are still in pain, and the next day i had to call them, asking to schedule me again. i asked the girl at the desk about the 19 dollar special, and she said she would give it to me, which was nice... but i don't know why she wouldn't just do that in the first place.. it's cheaper without the insurance than it is with, if i were her i would try to give the customer the best price... and the girl at the desk told me that the doctor will call me today.. and that he got done late yesterday at 8, and that's why he didn't call.. but my teeth hurt really bad, and i would've appreciated scheduling to get my teeth fixed asap... i guess he thought i shouldn't be in so much pain, and that i could wait.. anyway he called and apologized and told me what was going on.. then i had to call the girl at the desk one more time, and she sounded really hesitant to put me in schedule because i haven't paid yet. once i said dr. bird said it was fine, and that i would go in the next day to pay for the membership and half down my next appointment, she sounded more than happy to fill me in..

I'm not really one to write reviews this is my first review of any sort online in fact but I've been meaning to write about how great my experience was at Dr. Kang's office a few weeks ago. I needed an appointment pretty fast, and got one within a week of my call to the office. The staff was friendly and they gave me detailed information on parking (validated, which is a big plus) and everything I needed to know for my appointment. I arrived for my appointment on time and was greeted by the front desk with a pleasant "hello". The office is spectacular - very Portland and easygoing, technologically advanced, and has a very warm and friendly feel to it. Also, they have a great new patient deal (xrays, cleaning, and dentist visit for $100 without insurance!).\r \r Truly the best part of my experience though was the awesome dentist that I had. Dr. Kang went above and beyond the call of duty to help me understand my xrays, answer any questions that I had. One thing I should note here is that

The Christmas day free dental clinic from the dental technicians at Green apple dental was the first day that I had been to see a dentist in almost 5 years. I was thankful that the dentist that worked on my tooth was really nice and had a calm hand. Although the rest of the clinic was extremely busy with all the people trying to get in and move about I was relieved that I was able to get in the door. All the bustle was good, everybody was pretty happy to be there and we all made the best out of a "dental visit".

Thank you for having your dental clinic open on Christmas Eve. I heard about your free dental care clinic from a friend and almost couldn't believe it. The perfection of going to get a free cleaning and not having to miss out on work was a good ending to a tough year. I had lost my job earlier this year because of cut backs and my new position did not have any insurance at all. My teeth are in "ok" pretty good standing but I do worry about them a lot. I do appreciate you having a special day to help people out when times are tough. I am telling all of my co-workers about this and thanks again.

I just learned that MY dental office did a truly awesome deed for Portland. On Christmas Eve they had a free clinic for people in need. I found out about it from my facebook newsfeed and then again saw them on the tv later on that day. It's makes me feel really good that I choose a dentist clinic that gives back to it's community and cares for people. I totally support these dentists that worked on a special holiday to help others.

Horrible, I would never go back & warn others not to go here. Tey are into making money & should spehnd more of their enery on their patients than on all the marketing they do all over portland. There is nothing really "Green about their practice". The x-rays they took were from a very old machine that I questioned the safety of, the tech gave me my shots!, and lastly, the dentist recommmended that he do the dental surgery nme instead of refering me to a specialist. But they mailed me a mug.

Some people, my Dad included, are petrified when they realize they have to go to the dentist. Me, on the other hand, love the feeling of freshly cleaned teeth--and I've even had a root canal! So when it was time for me to find a new dentist here, I hopped on yelp and scoured reviews. After reading a pleasant one for this office and checking out their website, I made an appointment and hoped for the best. Thankfully, I was far from disappointed. The office was decorated nicely and the receptionist perky and pleasant. I was taken into a room for my cleaning and exam and was able to listen to an ipod the whole time. Thank God for modern technology! The doctor was genial and very down-to-earth and didn't make me feel like just a number as some doctors can do. I am a happy new patient and wouldn't hesitate to send someone else there. Thanks S. Turner

I have been to Green Apple a few times now and really love this place. There aren't many (or any) offices like this right downtown with an atmosphere that makes me feel relaxed and at ease. Dr. Kim is a true professional: great communication and is open and honest when discussing treatment options, etc. I also have two young kids I take here for cleanings (and one filling...oops need to brush more!) They actually have fun and are excited to go to the dentist. They are so comfortable with Dr Kim, she is great!

I am new to Portland so I was in a terrible predicament when I had severe pain in my tooth. It just got worse and I was unable to find an office to arrange an appointment that day. I called Green Apple Dental and then I explained that I had an emergency. I was crying already and I suppose that maybe that helped me to get in so fast? Regardless, they were good enough to get me out of the stress and pain of not having a local dentist. I turned out to be a root canal and I really don't care what it was. I just wanted to get into an office and out of the awful pain. The doctor was professional and nice. He was quick and appeared to my knowledge to be very good, but at that point anything would have been a miracle in my eyes. The dental technicians were helpful, one even got me a nice hot towel to ease my nerves. I did wimp out and use some laughing gas to relieve my accumulated dental anxiety, it worked and I will probably use it again in the future without hesitation. Pros- great office

I recently switched from Kaiser Dental to Green Apple, I couldn't have been happier. Dr. Valentine took the time to go over the procedure with me and my options. We were recently at an appointment and Dr. Valentine was running late. The office staff asked if we would like coffee and then presented us with a Starbucks gift card and directed us to the local Starbucks. What a great idea, instead of being bothered about being late we enjoyed a cup of coffee and the office staff gave us a call when it was our turn. Dr. Valentine does a great job and I know that we have found a dentist for life.

My doctor was remarkably unskilled. During a root canal procedure the dentist only removed HALF of my tooth's root, leaving the remaining nerve to grow angry & infected under a crown that she ruthlessly shaved away at upon subsequent visits when I complained of pain. The pain was unreal, like a migraine x 100. I missed a week of work & by the end of it I wasn't able to even stand to take my dog outside. I had to rely on friends & neighbors to take me back to the dentist to try to fix the problem. She insisted that it was just the "occlusion" (that the crown was too high/didn't fit with my other teeth) and that the pain was the result of chewing (as if I was able to eat). Hence, she just shaved away at it with the dremmel... an infected tooth. I am a total badass about pain & will usually pass on numbing, but seriously... it was blinding. After nearly a month she finally realized her error and sent me to a endodontist to fix her mistake. Even though I was proactively refunded my money, the specialist who fixed the botched procedure was still extremely expensive & I had to pay for all of it. It took 4 months & more than $2,000... totally unacceptable!!! I really, really wanted to like Green Apple Dental... the lovely calming atmosphere, the nice folks at the front desk, the quirky reading material. Even my negligent doctor was super nice. All of that is just fine, but is really just the icing on what is a pretty poorly made cake. If you want to be "upsold" by the marketing efforts of a dental provider, then this is the place for you. If you want quality, appropriate dental work this isn't the place for you. If you still decide to go here, know this: *you will be given x-rays at EVERY visit even if you just had them a week ago, and even if the doc never looks at them, so be ready to turn them down lest you begin to glow in the dark. *the "spa" amenities are weird & unremarkable. If you want to go to a spa, go to a spa. If you want to go to a dentist, continue your search. *know what your insurance covers to the letter & make sure to convey that to the front desk folks. *ask the dentist to pay attention to YOUR PROCEDURE ONLY (i.e. take off the damn headset) and to talk you through what they're doing while they're doing it.

I was really impressed w/ Dr. Valentine and Green Apple Dental. I have gone through a few dentists over the past few years due to coverage and convenience, and so-far-so-good at this dentist. Location is great with validated parking a block away, it was easy to hit on my way home from work, and they were able to schedule my apointment after my work hours. I had all four wisdom teeth pulled, and they even scheduled my ride home when the work was complete! I was really impressed with the staff, and the operation went much better then expected. I will definitly be using them again.

Going into a dentist office can be a very unsettling experiance but Dr.Bird made me feel very comfortable and his staff made me completley relaxed with my choice of music and hand oil/wax treatment. I recently changed dentists, doing so with trepidation. To my relief I found the experience at Green Apple Dental to be a wonderful one. I was greeted by a warm and competent office staff. In addition, Dr. Valentine took time to come to the reception area and greet me. The staff did everything possible to make it a pleasant experience. A spa hand treatment, Bose headphones, and a caring dentist all helped me relax. The analysis and treatment plan were followed by a pain free capping of a broken tooth. Following the work he made a personal call to make sure I was doing well. Everything about this dental experience was done first class. I would recommend Dr. Valentine and his office without reservation.

I was very apprehensive about going to the dentist, I knew I probably had several cavities. I went to this office thinking my anxieties about going to the dentist would fade way, but they made them worse! The ladies at the front desk barely looked up to greet me (BOTH times I went there) and no one told me when I called for a first exam and cleaning that they don't even do a cleaning on the first day - I had to find this out as they were walking me out! I waited about thirty minutes to be seen, and when I did it was about 30 seconds in the chair for Dr. Valentine to tell me I needed approximately $3000 worth of work. A root canal, two cavities, and gum treatment. At that time I was escorted into another room to receive financial info from the doctor himself. I left a little upset and went to get another opinion. I didn't tell the new place what Green Apple had said - and turns out I only needed one cavity filled! Cost to me=$170. It's your choice, $3000 of useless treatment, or $170 of quality care.

I just received 2 fillings and a grossly overdue cleaning from Dr. Bird. I hadn't visited the dentist in approximately 5 years because of the discomfort experienced during my last visit at Gentle Dental (what a misnomer). I usually have high anxiety around visits and cycle through anesthesia rather quickly. Dr. Bird not only got the dosage right the first time but finished my cleaning and fillings in less than an hour with NO PAIN. I'm still in shock and throughly impressed. Every cleaning that I've had in my adult life has involved a moderate degree of pain except for this one. I cannot sign the praises of Dr. Bird enough. The staff is also very pleasant and quite friendly. I've read some of the negative reviews and I've only had positive experiences during my three visits there. I only wish that I had discovered them sooner.

I like Dr. Bird. He's nice and knows what he's doing. Unfortunately for him, his office staff is the reason I don't want to ever go back. I've been to a lot of dentists. The difference here is that the office staff is NOT dedicated to customer service. When I walked in, the first thing said to me was how much I owed. I paid the balance, before having any work done, which no other dentists require. Paying half up front just for an appointment is unheard of. I agreed to it because I needed work, and would have been fine with it had everything else gone well. I asked for a ledger of my account and the girl said she would give it to me later. Why? She took my money and nothing else seemed to matter. You can say that you care about customer service, but if your staff doesn't show it, then it's not a priority to you, no matter how many times you say it. I then asked to schedule an appointment for later work and was told to do that afterwards. My appointment ran and hour and a half late. Once again, office staff mistake. My dentist told me he was overbooked. My dental assistant was very nice, but I could tell she did not have a lot of experience. It also surprised me how much time she spent working on me, it was much more than other dental assistants I've had. Usually they "assist," not do a lot of the work. Upon leaving, I ask for my ledger of my account and it's as if I am terribly inconveniencing the desk girl. My assistant requests the desk girl give me the dentist's cell number and she didn't give it to me. I'm looking over my ledger assuming the girl is going to say something like "we're all done here" or "have a nice day" or "how was everything?" None of this happened. I've never experienced such unprofessionalism in my life. I just wanted to get out of there. Another thing, all of the office staff are young girls. They always seem flustered and they definitely don't put customers first. Do yourself a favor Dr. Bird, get some more qualified and respectful, considerate office staff, and I might want to come back.

Ironically, I established care there as a patient with Aetna PPO insurance! I had been delighted I could stay. The attitude? Took a complete 180. I had been there 9 months before with commercial insurance without any speculation about my meth use. When I heard (second hand, from another treating doctor; Dr. Bird never even mentioned being concerned about meth to me) that a dentist I had trusted -- who I trusted enough to undertake a drastic treatment plan, who I found to be nice and empathetic (if a bit judge-y that I couldn't afford a million implants) -- was basing oral surgery recommendations on MY NON EXISTENT METH HEADEDNESS, I cried really hard. They never even asked me about drug use! Not brought up once! Then Dr. Bird disclosed it as if it were a fact. It was so snooty and so wrong. I cried and now I'm angry. They shouldn't treat any one else like this ever again. Dr. Bird was all empathetic and nice to me, eager to tell my ear nose and throat doctor that I was a meth addict simply because I had sudden dental issues. That's a huge, terrible assumption to make (and share with others!) without any reason to make it, without any discussion with me. I don't want your help in finding a new dentist at all; I am in the process of reporting Green Apple for privacy, ethics and dental board violations. I really trusted you guys and you were enormously unprofessional in innumerable ways. I overheard what Dr. Bird said. Humble, indeed! Caring, indeed!

This office is very good. very affordable also. I had my cleaning and exam all for less than $100 and it was not junky place either. I will go back to this office and feel relieved that I finally found a dentist that I am not afraid to go. The office has a modern vibe, purple sleek chairs that just let you melt into and the front staff couldn't be nicer. The assistants are sweet and all were ready to help me with questions. If you get to come here and want to try the sedation treatment I also recommend that as well. I would rather have no recollection of dental treatment and bypass the anxiety and nightmares. I was pretty much asleep in minutes and feeling pretty good. When I woke up from my daze, the friendly assitand was there with a hot towel and all my work was done without me getting stressed.

I had a root canal and some other fillings done with sleep dentistry totally recommend this to any person that has dental phobia or anxiety when going to the dentist. No pills to make your stomach turn and I didn't have any awful after effects besides feeling rested and a sleepy, which is better than overstressed. In the past, I tried to go to the dentist but the nitrous gas was not enough. Any work done would give me stress, even to have a teeth cleaning appointment would stress me out days-weeks before my appointment. If I knew about sleep dentistry earlier then I believe I would not have procrastinated so long. I had this done a while a go and now need to have it done again for another root canal but cannot find a dentist in my new city! I wish, and am thinkging about going back to Portland to have it done again with Dr. Kang. Don't bother with the nitrous gas if you really hate to visit the dentist. I can't find anybody in my area that does sleep dentistry AND does the spa paraffin treatments.

I've been searching for a new dentist as I left my one I've been going to for the past 10 years. I must say, the responses to some of the negative reviews are very unprofessional, and based on seeing these, I will most definitely not be going to this place. The comment that bothered me the most is them telling a customer to "Enjoy the mug" as a smart-alec comment to seal the deal. You should seriously reconsider responding to all of the negative reviews and instead work with the clients. If you have a negative review and you are a dentist, you most likely did something wrong - a dentist should please everybody and nobody should have a bad experience.

The people that complain about Green Apple are the kind of people who need to whine and moan about anything different than what they're used to. This place is awesome. I cannot stand going to the dentist. I loathe it! I have a lot of anxiety issues, and going to the dentist is like going to my own funeral...naked. First of all, when you see where it's located, you're like, great, it's downtown...I'll have to deal with parking, etc. But, they have a nice parking garage, free parking, and an indoor entrance so you don't even have to go out to the street to get it. Green Apple IS like a spa...I felt calm, pampered, and relaxed. However, I also felt like I was in extremely capable hands. Dr. Russ (shoot I hope that's his name) was very professional and knew his stuff. I have a lot of "teeth issues" and he did not overreact and try to scare me with big words and dollar signs. I was told what needed immediate attention and what could wait. I felt no pressure at all. I can't tell you how refreshing it was to visit an office that takes a different approach to the dental profession. They really make the effort to provide a more pleasant and calming atmosphere, which makes all the difference. The staff is all very friendly and polite. No one barks names or orders at the patients sitting in the waiting room. Dr. Russ even called to check up on me later that day! I have never had that happen before! This office is worth every penny, especially for those that fear going to the dentist. I'm actually (almost) looking forward to going back and having my work done!

i came back again for my second appointment. still, they were really good to me and still, can't complain about anything besides having to go to a dentist to fix my teeth. one huge positive is that i like how they call me to check up on my status if i feel ok. another HUGE good thing is that this place was about $300 cheaper than when i had the same work done 2 years ago. so this office is on my save list.

My experience with Green Apple Dental was really positive. I cannot complain since my past dental office visits were full of stress and usually dreading the whole thing. Dr. Kang's office much more elaborate when it came to communication and explaining the facts.I don't have to have all of the special services they offer but it was nice to know that they have those items for me to use when I go just in case. I think I should apologize to them because during my appointment I was coughing so much and kept asking for water to drink. The assistant was so nice, she came back with a throat losenge as well.

Green Apple Dental is probably the most unprofessional dentists office that I've ever gone to. They seem to spend much more on marketing than anything else. There is nothing "green" about this doctor's practice. Pro's: nice waiting room. Cons: payment required when you make your appointment!, only one working x-ray machine that was very old & did only panoramic views that expose you to higher radiation & are very expensive, not digital x-rays, dental tech was allowed to give me novacaine injections (not even sure this is legal!), Dr. Kang told me I would need extensive dental surgery & said he could do it himself (most dentists would refer you to a specialist), no follow ups. I would never go to them again. Although I see their signs on posters & now a billboard around town...the focus of this doctor's practice is obviously money, not patient care. But I did get a nice green apple mug for all the money I spent.

This is truly a dentist office like you've never experienced it. Probably deserves more than the 3 stars I gave for most people, but I simply cannot overlook my personal experience in my review. The good: no mercury! Little details in the office are proof that they are more health conscious than a typical dentist. For example, they offer xylitol and stevia packets with tea instead of dangerous artificial sweeteners. During your visit you can look forward to a spa treatment! parafin wax for your hands, aromatheraphy, and preloaded ipods to listen to. They are also very much aware that many people are terrified of visiting the dentist and are proactive in making it a more comfortable experience. Its been about a year, so I can't remember the specific questions, but in the paper work they asked questions about fear of dental work and how to make it easier. I was pretty impressed! Now the downside! I was 14 weeks pregnant (2nd trimester, the most safe time in pregnancy for dental work) an

Let me preface my review...I ABHOR the dentist, as far as I am concerned this is a profession of sadists. Consequently I approach the dentist, the office and the entire dental experience with suspicion and derision. That said, I must confess Green Apple Dental is not your typical dental office. The atmosphere was soothing (although I had sincere trepidation when I noted the office looked like a spa more than a dental clinic, "what unspeakable horrors were they hiding with the aromatherapy diffusers and paraffin wax treatments?") and the dentist - Dr. Bird was extremely patient with my surly demeanor and rather icy veneer. By the end of my initial visit, the bulk of my anxiety abated and I found myself laughing at his humor (unbelievable). He was extremely professional and took extra time to answer my questions. At check-out I anticipated an itemized bill carefully outlining all of the 'extras' that my insurance would not cover, thus leaving a gaping cavity in my purse. This was not the case (although they may bill you later I don't know this was my first visit but I am hopeful there are no financial demands to come in the mail). Additionally, the bite guard I elected to purchase was quite reasonable even with only partial coverage by my insurance). It is also worth noting my appointment was on a Saturday morning and there are evening appointments available as well. You can imagine this came as a surprise given my previous experience with dental offices was a four-day business week and one struggled to coordinate an appointment months in advance, just to find the office smelled like burnt enamel and dental fixative. Thus it is with some reservation that I say this, but I believe this may be the one dental oasis on the planet where your dental delusions and hopes come true: it smells of lavender instead of fluoride, the atmosphere is calming instead of institutional green, the dentist and staff are young, fresh, energetic, dewy-eyed professionals, instead of some reincarnated version of Niccolo Machiavelli, and your dental care is followed by warm aromatherapy towels and scented lip balm. This is a good choice for a dental practice.

I hate to say this but unfortunately Green apple Dental is more holistic in name than in actual fact. Let's face it being Green is a great marketing tool. It is up to the consumer to make it mean something more than marketing. Examples: They do not have Digital x ray equipment so you get more radiation exposure than necessary. They do place Amalgam fillings, that is the old Mercury based fillings and so Mercury could be in the air. They have the minimal standard of care to protect you (and themselves) from the removal of Mercury fillings although they will remove them. Their standard of care is standard there is nothing individual, unique or holistic about it. Not everyone should be doing implants, I have three and you really should go to a specialist if you need one. They do not provide profiles of the many dentists in their office so you know something about the education, experience of the dentist you will see. They do seem nice and pleasant enough.

I really like going to Green Apple. My coworker referred me and from the moment I came to the office, I felt at ease and comfortable. Dr. Kang is well knowledged and very friendly. He is constantly making you aware of what he is doing and makes you feel at ease with any procedure. Dr. Kang and his staff are very attentive and provide excellent customer service. They offer tea, water, aroma therapy, hot towels, iPods with a variety of different music. The office is not the white, cold dentist office that I was used to, it was inviting and comfortable. For any dental procedure, there may be some pain associated (such as the injection to numb the area), but Dr. Kang does his best to prevent such pain. The procedures go smoothly and are always done in a timely fashion. There is some cost associated, especially if your dental insurance is not that great (like mine), but it seems to be affordable and they work with you on scheduling your payments. I really find this office to be truly remarkable-it is the first dental office I have ever felt at ease going to. I would advise anyone who needs dental work to go see Dr. Kang and his staff fro a very pleasant experience!

I had my crown replaced by the dentist at Green Apple Dental. My experience was 110 times more enjoyable than the visit to the other dentist who put in the crown. Not trying to sell me work that I didn't need. He just did what I asked and needed. I have found my permanent dentist for future dental needs. It is a visit that cannot be described but must be experienced.

I recommend this office. I called around to several office and could not get an appointment within a week and a half or more. When I told other dental receptionists that they needed to work with my schedule they said that there were no available appointments when I could come in and that I should call another office. I called this office and they told me to come right in. Then I found out that they have late hours so that just worked out perfect. To add to that, the office looked attractive and doctor was accomodating. I need to visit again for more work and I feel good about going there to get my fillings.

I found green apple dental on a holistic network website, checked to make sure they were a preferred provider on my dental plan, and called for an appointment. They were able to get me in right away instead of the 3 month wait I'm used to at most offices, and they were so nice. I had an evening appt for my exam so i could get in after work. They gave me a parafin hand treatment, some aromatherapy for my temples & an ipod to listen to while I waited. When I came back a few weeks later for my cleaning (yesterday) I was running late because I got stuck in traffic, but they were still able to see me. I fully expected to walk-in and have to reschedule. It was such a relief that they could accommodate me. Again I had a great visit - massage chair, ipod, etc. It definitely makes going to the dentist a pleasant experience. Aside from the the perks of the office, everyone there is really nice and makes your experience enjoyable. I would highly recommend them to anyone that is looking for a new dentist or is unhappy with their current dentist. Try green apple dental :)

I was very nervous about going to the dentist for the first time in my life at age 25 and the thought of finding a dentist was overwhelming. A friend went to Green Apple, and when I heard about all the spa stuff I was sold. I went to Green Apple and the office staff was very friendly. The Doctor is very nice and didn't make me feel bad about not ever having been to the dentist. Both my husband and I had procedures done and the Dr. called himself to follow up on us to see how we were. I love the spa atmosphere and the Bose headphones with the iPod music of your choosing to drown out the noise of the tools. I would highly recommend them if you are looking for a new dentist.

I absolutely LOVE this place. I'm scared of dentists in general (after a couple of bad experiences) and was recommended here awhile ago by a friend. Now I'M recommending it to everyone I can! The atmosphere is relaxing, the spa-like perks are crazy-awesome, and my hygienist (Cam) is gentle, nonjudgmental, and does a thorough job - plus she hums while she works :). Dr. Kang is very accomodating and professional. Whenever I leave there, not only do I feel like I have new teeth, but I'm happy and even (ok, sort of) looking forward to coming back! Really, I can't say enough good things about this place. The only thing to note is that because they're so busy, it's hard to reschedule appointments - but big deal! Everything else totally makes up for it.

Green apple is a special place. The atmosphere is very calming and the staff very friendly. I was given a parafin wax treatment on both hands using essential oils and warming gloves. This helped me relax while hearing the drill in the next room. The music was nice in the office. Not some radio station full of commericals and bad songs. Dr. Kang is very nice and not at all pushy. He took the time to talk with me about my teeth and helped me create a treatment plan. I finally found a good dentist!

I had a horrible experience at green apple. The doctor attempted to take the nerve out of my tooth without me being completely numb. Only after I refused to continue did he stop drilling. He finally referred me to someone who specializes in this procedure and this doctor had no problem getting me numb and finishing taking the nerve out. The worst dental appointment I have ever had. I am consistently impressed with the service here- I recently had a harrowing experience at one of the 'top' dentists in downtown Portland and they recommended a whole bunch of work that I was suspicious of... so I came to Green Apple for a second opinion. I should've just come here first. These people are professional, kind, clear, organized, and Dr. Kang's hands are the steadiest I've ever seen. I hate going in for dental work- I've had a myriad of terrible experiences from trigger happy dentists and this is one of the few I've actually liked and trusted. It would be a bit of a stretch to say I enjoy the work, but this is the closest I've ever come to being alright with it. I can't recommed them enough. I had two cavities filled on opposite sides of my jaw and it was done, start to finish, in under 45 minutes. Best dentist in Portland.

I was sold on Green Apple Dental after reading previous reviews. We live in Colorado and were looking for someone to remove my daughters 4 wisdom teeth. Knowing this would be an involved procedure I felt comfortable after reading current patient's reviews and after talking with Dr. Kang's office staff. The oral surgery went well. We were given specific care instructions by Dr. Kang's staff and then Dr. Kang reviewed them again. He could probably tell I was a worried mother!! We did need to call Dr. Kang because of nausea after the surgery. He was very helpful and kind. We were in Portland for a week to visit and for the surgery. We returned home to Colorado knowing that my daughter had the best treatment possible, with a very caring dentist and office staff. And that if there was ever any follow up treatment needed Dr. Kang was just a phone call away!

I heard good things about Green Apple and had a good experience in their care. I was very disappointed and frustrated however when it came to the billing. They gave me a written estimate of what my insurance company would pay, apparently without actually checking with my insurance company. My insurance company, as it turns out, considered their fees to be well above "usual and customary" and I got left owing a lot more than I was expecting to pay out of pocket. When I protested, they were completely unsympathetic and their office manager even got kind of nasty. I was really surprised. My family won't return. If you do choose to use Green Apple, I would suggest that you call your insurance company after you receive a written estimate in order to determine what they really will pay.

I first went to Green Dental because I was very unhappy with Paramount Dental in West Linn. I met Dr. Kang and they completed my teeth cleaning in a very efficient manner within pleasant surroundings. The emphasis appears to be on comfort and using natural holistic ingredients. For what it may lack in "looking like a dental office" it makes up in quality of service and expertise. 3 months after my first visit with Dr. Kang, I returned to complain about a bump that had appeared in my upper gum line over night. I was very worried and anxious. Dr. Kang's staff was friendly and immediately set up an appointment the day of my complaint to come in. Dr. Kang did several x-rays of my upper jaw and discovered some very unusual anomolies along with three dead teeth that were 'virgin' teeth just 3 months prior. Without getting into further detail here, Dr. Kang, after 5 PM, was able to arrange an appointment for me with a very talented and wonderful Oral Surgeon the very next morning. The Oral surgeon was able to fit me into his schedule and performed services that literally saved my life! The quick response time, efforts and professional contacts through Dr. Kang, in my humble opinion, go beyond the typical professionalism to provide services that exceed expectations. The courteousness of his staff and dental goods he offers are also equally exceptional. If not for Dr. Kang's observations, concerns, and recommendations, I can imagine it would have taken me many more weeks to get in front of a person with the expertise to treat my problem. I feel very fortunate, because I was put on the right track in less than 14 hours. Based on my experience, I highly recommend Green Dental and Dr. Kang, without exception.

I was doing some research online because I was in need of a dentist, wanted a new experience, and especially wanted an office in the downtown area. I came across Dr. Kang's Green Apple Dental and read some raving reviews and comments and decided to see for myself.... WOW, from the moment you walk in, everyone is accomodating, the atmosphere is highly condusive to relaxation; magazines, soothing music, comfy couches and chairs, nice lighting, Dr. kang is social and conversational, and the equipment is of the highest quality and techonogical adancement. I got a parafin wax dip for my hands (I'm not admitting that easily considering most men my age, etc. probably wouldn't do this but in the dental environment) and had lavender oil on my temples while they used a cleaning technique that is void of scraping. That's right, NO scraping, it was a hydro-rotary tool that I really could barely hear and certainly didn't feel. An occasional spray of water on my face was the worst of it, if you could call it that. Dr. Kang checks every system related to the mouth and head, palpates your throat and jaws, systematically checks your allignment and gums, and explains everything as you go. He is highly educated and accredited, experienced, personable, and a very likable guy in general. His staff was awesome and I am looking forward to my 6-month appointment. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommended. How cool is that, Dr. Kang himself is so invested in your comfort and joy of his office that he personally reviews and responds to these submissions. I had to add to this because I returned for my 6-month visit, 2nd visit total, the single most relaxing office I have ever been in. You feel as though you've just entered a quiet sanctuary of wholistic health and balance.

I had another dentist take care of me for a couple years, then I heard this talk about the Apple Dental from some family friends. The gossip was validated when I had my appointment. They used a special water ultrasound machine for my teeth. It didn't hurt nearly as bad as my past dental cleanings. It makes me upset that I had to endure painful visits for that long! For all of those years i just thought that it was normal to be in a lot of pain after a dental cleaning. Now I know that it isn't.

The walls were not cold and sterile, lights were not toxic. My only problem was that my dental insurance did not cover the some treatment done. I still plan to stay with this office, I liked the dentist. Parking was not too bad just across the street in the smartpark structure. I had terrible pain and did not have a local dentist to help me. I called about five offices and no one would see me, after taking too many motrins I finally called the Green Apple Dental office. They said they could see me right away, I drove over there and they scheduled me in about an hour. It was also less expensive than my last root canal and less painful as well. The Doctor called me that same night to check up on my tooth pain. Now that's good service. They are the best.
